CHAPEL CHOIR

The Chapel Choir at S. Anselm's was formed in January 2008 with 29 members.  Their first big concert was in June 2008, when the choir joined forces with Hereford Cathedral Junior School (Jon Weller, the current Director of Music's previous school) for a concert at St Philip's Cathedral in Birmingham.   The concert was a huge success.

Last July the Chapel Choir gave a Summer Recital in Parwich Church, followed by an invitation back to the Litchfields' for refreshments.

This year, the choir, now slightly increased in number, have led the singing in the school Harvest Festival, and performed in a moving Remembrance Sunday concert at Bakewell Church, when they were joined by Lady Manners School Orchestra and local singers for a concert including Faure's Requiem Mass.   Lucy E sang the solo in the 'Pie Jesu' beautifully.

This December, as well as leading the singing at the school's Carol Service, the choir will be joining St Oswald's Church Choir, Ashbourne in their annual Advent Carol Service.

In March 2009, the Chapel Choir, joined by members of the Guitar Ensemble, Flute Group, Wind Band, String Quartet and soloists on a tour to Austria.  Accompanied by 6 members of staff, the 39-strong tour will perform in Mass services in Stephansdom, Vienna's magnificent cathedral and Bad Ischl, just outside Salzburg, and will also perform concert in these two venues, and also at Biedermannsdorf, a beautiful village not far from Vienna.
